Kitchen Garden
A Cross-Curricular Collaboration
The Food Technology and Art departments have been working collaboratively to transform the site of the old swimming pool into a thriving kitchen garden. Thanks to successful fundraising efforts, we have been able to purchase a greenhouse and essential gardening equipment.
Pupils from all year groups have the opportunity to participate during enrichment time, growing a variety of crops from seed, including strawberries, tomatoes, radishes, and courgettes. Students are actively involved in preparing trays, watering plants, and nurturing the garden’s development.
The Art department has played a key role by designing and decorating colourful plant pots, adding vibrancy and creativity to the space. We are committed to making the garden as environmentally friendly as possible, repurposing donated cans from the school kitchen to grow strawberries and tomatoes.
New for this year, we are introducing a wildflower corner to attract bees and other beneficial insects, supporting biodiversity. Looking ahead, we plan to incorporate more tables into the centre of the garden, creating a flexible space for outdoor learning and cross-curricular activities
