Careers Introduction
Mr Peter Gregory – Careers Lead
I have worked at Hailey Hall in various roles for the last 14 years.
In 2020 I was asked by the school to take on the role of the “Careers lead” at Hailey Hall in line with new Government guidelines and legislation of careers support for all students of education age. After initial training that was undertaken during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, I went about implementing the careers programme for Careers education, information advice and guidance known as CEIAG.
Students will develop the universal skills, knowledge and ambition to reach their full potential, in education, training or employment.
Students will become empowered for their future through their curriculum learning and tutor time, as well as through PSHE lessons and employer/provider interactions. They will over their school years have many visits to various employers covering many employment pathways such as Public services, Catering, Construction, Motor mechanics and STEM areas to name but a few.
They will in Year 10 have the opportunity to engage with the “Work experience” programme which will prepare them for the world of work.
Guest speakers from various backgrounds will be invited to come into Hailey Hall to discuss their pathways into Post 16 education and employment routes.
Students will have the opportunities to visit various Post 16 options such as local Colleges, Local 6th Form and Hertfordshire University will be undertaken and bespoke visits for students will be arranged when post 16 pathways are decided
In years 10 and 11 they will receive independent advice and support from our various county careers advisors and support with all possible options will be discussed with both students and Parent/carers. All staff contribute to CEIAG through their roles as teacher and form tutors.
Students will be encouraged to ask me any questions regarding their Post 16 routes and pathways and parents and carers can also contact me if they have any questions.
